Our valued Members are encouraged to participate in our election process and attend our 2020 Annual General Meeting.
Each year, our valued Members participate in the Directors’ election process and attend the Annual General Meeting.Since 1976, with the support of our Members, The Wilderness Society has stood at the forefront of Australia’s most historic environmental victories. From the Franklin River, to Fraser Island, to Tasmania’s forests, to the Kimberley, to the Great Australian Bight and numerous World Heritage Areas like Ningaloo Reef and Shark Bay, we’re focussed on bigger picture outcomes. Results of The Wilderness Society Ltd 2020 Election of Directors
In 2020 the elected Directors retiring were Stuart Baird from Tasmania and Craig Zanker from Victoria opening two positions for election.
The following two eligible nominations for the 2020 Election of Directors were received fortwo vacant positions:
- Gabrielle Appleby from Tasmania
- Andrew Barker from Victoria
Each year Members participate in the election of our Board of Directors, this year the online ballot closed on 19 November with the results declared at The Wilderness Society Ltd AGM on 26 November. Both candidates received ballots in the Election of Directors, allowing them to fill the available positions. With thanks to the 230 Members who participated, the results of the election were: 227 votes - Gabrielle Appleby; and 204 votes - Andrew Barker.

Congratulations to the newly elected Directors of the Wilderness Society Ltd Board, declared as Gabrielle Appleby and Andrew Barker! These Directors join continuing Elected Directors, Leanne Craze and Coral Robinson from New South Wales; Amanda Branley from Western Australia; Sam Rando from Northern Territory/South Australia; Lisa Roberts from Victoria; and one appointed Director, Ben Holgate, on the Board.
Annual General Meeting
The Wilderness Society Ltd 2020 Annual General Meeting was held by webinar on Thursday, 26 November 2020 at 6:30pm AEDT. The online meeting was managed by Redback Connect supporting participation by all attendees.
