Frequently asked questions

Are online Wills legally valid?

Yes, online Wills have the same requirements for validity as a paper-based DIY, or a will drafted by a solicitor. Provided that you meet the usual requirements for creating a Will (you have testamentary capacity and are of sound mind, are over the age of 18, make the Will voluntarily and sign and have it witness as directed), a Will made online will be legally valid and binding.


Can I sign my Will electronically?

Electronic signatures cannot be used to sign or witness a Will. This is because the Probate Office of each Supreme Court requires the original wet-ink signed document before a Grant of Probate can be issued. You will need to print your Will and sign it in the presence of two independent witnesses.


Can I make changes to my online Will?

Yes. In fact, we encourage you to do so as often as necessary- such as in the case of divorce, new marriage, or the birth of children. Safewill allows you the freedom to update your Will whenever you want.
